The nation's leading public health agency, The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is seeking a Management Auditor Trainee.This position will perform beginning level professional work in the conduct of financial, operational and management audits. Assignments include: assist in coordinating and tracking audits conducted by external oversight agencies; assist in reviewing actions taken in response to audit recommendations; assist in planning, fieldwork and work paper development for internal audits and reviews. Upon the satisfactory completion of all assignments during a 12 month term, the employee's performance and readiness to perform at a Management Auditor level will be evaluated.PREFERRED SKILLS:A Baccalaureate degree in accounting or the equivalent. Some financial and compliance auditing or knowledge of fiscal management; strong written and oral communication skills; excellent analytic and problem solving skills; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; additional computer skills, experience in administrative management, and a background in government or service delivery are also desirable.Experience Required:A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in accounting including one course each in auditing, cost accounting, and advanced accounting.NOTE: NEW YORK CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF APPOINTMENT.The City of New York/NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
