Full-time Senior Accountant - San Antonio, TX 78258

A hands-on exempt position responsible for managing, maintaining, and analyzing accounting management information including general ledger activity through financial statements. Essential Job Responsibilities:1. Prepares accurate monthly financial statements.2. Work on Federal Government cost accounting standards (CAS) and other government items such as FAR, DCAA and other items.3. Partners with business unit leaders on Request for Proposals (RFPs), and other items related to Federal Government contracts.4. Conducts contract pricing for all government and commercial contracts.5. Ensures proper use of Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) in the processing of invoices and receiving reports.6. Responsible for government contract compliance with FAR, EDGAR, and CAS.7. Contract setup and maintenance including all data entry of contractual info. Proposal pricing / internal budgeting and costing on per project basis.8. Analyzes, reviews, and adjusts income and expense information as to adequacy, form, and source.9. Manages non-profit funding and resource allocation.10. Maintains general ledger, including preparing financial schedules and writing journal entries for such items as interest income, prepaid insurance, FICA payments, etc. 11. Maintains cash schedules, inspects account status, and transfers cash as necessary to cover disbursements.12. Conducts reconciliations of balance sheet asset and liability accounts to ensure correctness. Identifies and resolves discrepancies.13. Maintains amortization schedules for lease agreements, mortgages, bank notes, and bond premiums.14. Perform payroll administration as needed.Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting.Experience: Minimum three years of experience in professional accounting and management experience.  Must have experience in government contracting.Other Requirements: NonePerformance Requirements:Knowledge:1. Knowledge of accounting practices to understand and interpret various accounting systems.2. Knowledge of budgeting and cost accounting principles. Skills:1. Skill in defining problems, collecting data, interpreting financial material. 2. Skill in preparing statistical and narrative accounting and auditing reports.      Abilities:1. Ability to evaluate accounting systems. 2. Ability to use cost accounting reports to recommend alternatives for controlling operations. 3. Ability to perform mathematical computations and compute ratios and percentages. 4. Ability to communicate clearly.Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
