The Department of the Army has an immediate opening for a permanent/full-time Clinical Dietitian!Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk, LA is hiring a registered and licensed Dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and outpatients. This job opportunity is open now through January 3rd and can be viewed using the following link: http://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/304523900 or by visiting www.usajobs.gov and searching for NCMD11426046DR.In this position, you will:* Interview patients to obtain information concerning eating patterns, economic situation, cultural background, and other conditions which influence food preferences and preparation.* Develop nutritional care plans based on the provider’s diet prescription, patient’s medical records, interview information, and nutritional requirements.* Plan, schedule, and conduct nutritional training for patients, families, and staff either individually or in groups to include providing instruction on dietary principles for health promotion and disease prevention and teaching nutrition management of disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, renal disease, coronary artery disease, obesity, gestational diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid and parathyroid conditions, disordered eating and other populations at risk (i.e. children’s failure to thrive, geriatric nutritional imbalances and genetic disorders requiring special diets).* Assist in managing the Active Duty Weight Control program by conducting classes and education for overweight active duty soldiers.* Assist with nutritional activities for health promotion and education events.* Develop and execute quality improvement monitoring and evaluation indicators for clinical dietetics and participate in the division quality improvement initiatives.* Develop educational patient-based programs based on the American Dietetic Association standards.* Serve as the Chief, Nutrition Care in his or her absence.Exceptional benefits include a competitive salary, comprehensive healthcare and life insurance, a generous 3-tiered retirement plan, a Thrift Savings Plan with matching employer contributions up to 5%, 11 paid holidays annually, 13-26 accruable vacation days each year, 13 days accruable sick leave per year, and opportunities for travel, job advancement, and job security.As an Army Civilian, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in our soldier’s lives.
