Full-time Certified Coder - Houston, TX 77074

Large, growing clinic in Conroe, is looking for Certified Medical Coder. This facility has 700 employees and over 100 Physicians. Coder must be Certified and have at least 2-5 years experience. Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.Duties, Responsibilities, Accountabilities·Obtains necessary documentation to ensure that correct CPT, ICD9, and HCPCS coding is assigned to all outpatient and inpatient charges.    This includes use of relevant modifiers.·Shares such knowledge with primary stakeholders within the clinical subspecialty:  these are physicians, mid-level providers, nursing and clerical staff, as well as Business Office staff.  Consistently strives to augment their knowledge base, as well as one's own, and is comfortable with doing so.   This knowledge base includes an advanced knowledge of LCDs [Limited Coverage Diagnoses, i.e., which ICD9 codes are payable for which CPT codes].·Builds knowledge bases of specific reimbursement patterns of primary payers & shares this information with stakeholders.   Communicates regularly with Business Office supervisors, especially Supervisors of Commercial Plans and Government plans.·Maintains familiarity with Medicare guidelines, since 50% of our payments are Medicare & since many private payers base their practices on what Medicare does.·Functions comfortably in providing suggestions to providers on documentation issues & does so when needed.·As needed, functions as an active part of the Docuscan or EMR process.   ·Maintains active status as a Certified Professional Coder [CPC] with the American Academy of Professional Coders [AAPC], obtains required continuing educational units [CEUs], and keeps subspecialty knowledge current through professional reading, audio conferences, etc.   ·Is comfortable working within a matrix structure, i.e., is located in business office area, or with physicians, works for the physician and simultaneously reports directly to a Business Office Supervisor level individual.Next Gen: Illustrates comfort with change and with instructing and coaching physicians and staff members on new processes, particularly those of charge capture.    ·Is available to work overtime as dictated by clinic need, especially during migration to new systems.Benefits:Competitive Base Salary. Highly prefer NextGen experience and exposure to EMR. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Advanced knowledge of coding, billing, and reimbursement associated with specific area assigned.  Can multi-task efficiently. Is a self-starter.   Strong organizational skills.  Ability to work overtime when required.  Ability to work under pressure and handle a high volume workload. Computer literate.  Able to read and follow oral and written instructions.  Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers in varied locations.  Ability to prioritize a high volume workload independently is essential, yet communicates when required.  Experience & EducationHigh school diploma or GED. Minimum of two years coding experience with a medical practice. CPC.
