Specialized nutritional lab in Houston is looking for an MLT or MT or someone with a Chemistry Bachelors degree and has lab experience .  MT/MLT must come from a chemistry or biochemistry educational background (BS) OR be an ASCP Certified MLT/MT and must have at least 2 years in the field working in a Chemistry capacity. No new grads. MT/MLT does NOT have to be ASCP certified as long as they have a Bachelors in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry. MLT/MT will be doing phlebotomy (if preferred), tissue culture, blood chemistry. Phlebotomy skills not required. Lab does 400+ samples per day.Schedule is M-F 8am-5pm and then rotating weekends every other weekend (Saturday's). Must be open to working some overtime.Major Responsibilities:Following the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).Review and release test results.Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed;Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance.Maintain general appearance of department.Review/train on new procedures.Attend monthly department and any additional training/educational meetings.Participate in all applicable safety training sessions. Know the location and contents of the safety manual. Know the location/use of all applicable safety equipment.If needed, participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.Benefits once an employee: 2 weeks vacation and 2 weeks sick time for the 1st year (it accrues and after 6 months MT/MLT earns one week vacation and one week sick and can use it at this time). 401K  with no match.  Medical insurance and dental is offered and employee pays very little.  Vision paid. Shift diff of 60% of hourly rate applied to regular wages for work on weekends, triple time for work on holidays.MT/MLT must come from a chemistry or biochemistry educational background (BS) OR be an ASCP Certified MLT/MT and must have at least 2 years in the field working in a Chemistry capacity. 2-3 years of clinical laboratory experience (high complexity testing) preferred. No new grads. MT/MLT does NOT have to be ASCP certified as long as they have a Bachelors in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry.  Will not take an MLT/MT from strictly a blood banking background (have to have Chemistry). Prefer BS in Biochemistry.
