300+ bed hospital in southern Virginia is seeking a Director of Health Information Management. The manager will plan, organize and direct the Health Information Management Department by providing daily management and leadership of staff; developing, implementing and maintaining departments policies and procedures and quality assurance program; and assuring staffs understanding of current Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health. Also responsible for education regarding coding, physician documentation, nursing EM coding, and other relevant information; planning and instituting the most efficient and economical methods of record retention; validating and maintaining statistical data of ancillary departments, census balancing and reporting; and completing monthly statistics to be reported to corporate headquarters. Actively participate on Medical Staff, Management and other special committees. Qualifications include: RHIA BS Degree in Medical Record Administration, current registration with American Health Information Management Association AHIMA and 1 to 3 years of management experience, or RHIT ASA Degree in Medical Technology, current accreditation with American Health Information Management Association AHIMA and 3 to 5 years of management experience. 3 to 5 years manager and/or director of a hospital's Health Information department; should have current knowledge of medical records science and hospital administration; excellent written and verbal communication.
