Listening and Spoken Language Specialist LSLS/Auditory Verbal Therapist AVT is needed for a major Columbus, Ohio hospital. Responsible for the provision of evaluative and therapeutic services to the hearing impaired population, including, but not limited to the cochlear implant population. Responsibilities include direct therapy emphasizing auditory skills, spoken language development, and educational support for pediatric patients. In addition to providing specialized services to the hearing impaired population, the SLP will also possess the ability to screen and/or evaluate speech, language, oral motor skills, swallowing, and cognition, score and interpret tests, plan and provide therapeutic intervention, provide parent education, and communicate/coordinate with outside agencies and referral sources for hearing impaired children RIHP, AG Bell, school systems, etc. The LSLS/AVT is a member of the hearing-impaired team and will participate in team assessments, clinics, research initiatives and community projects, as defined by the team. The LSLS/AVT/Speech-Language Pathologist demonstrates competencies and responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care to patients from the age of birth through 21 years, and select adult patients. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Valid Ohio license in Speech Pathology, certification in Speech Pathology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association, experience with hearing impairment and delays in language acquisition/development required, experience in pediatric auditory-verbal approach for assessment and treatment required, LSLS/AVT certification or in process of is desired, CPR certification must be received no later than 60 days post hire or 60 days post expiration.
