PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITYThis position is licensed and is accountable for providing education and quality healthcare services to patients and their families, including assessments, follow-up, consultation and promotion to referral sources.SCOPE  This position serves as a clinical practitioner, is licensed, and has a clinical scope of practice regulated by their state licensing board as a Respiratory Therapist.  Incumbents delivery respiratory services.  Incumbents function as a resource to clinical associates for orientation and training. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS  This position reports to either a Clinical Supervisor/Manager, Respiratory Manager or a Branch Manager and may lead other licensed or non-licensed personnel, as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS   In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities. Accommodations will be made if they are reasonable, do not create an undue hardship, and will enable an individual with a disability to safely perform the essential job functions. Respiratory Therapists will work in an office, hospital and/or home environment.  Those in the field will experience frequent changes in temperature due to driving and patient visits.  Those in the field are regularly required to carry and lift 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop and climb stairs regularly.  Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.  Fine motor skills needed for driving, set up and operation of equipment (in the field).   PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Respiratory Therapists 1.  Clinical:  Assures the delivery of quality respiratory services to clients, Performs clinical, technical evaluations and education for respiratory clients, Sets Up CPAP, BIPAP, apnea and bilirubin clients, Performs oximetry and ventilator related duties for clients as needed, Determines appropriate equipment based upon necessity and insurance, Dialogues with physicians and healthcare agencies as necessary pursuant to client status. 2.  Administrative:  Offers consultation and promotion to referral sources, Conducts in-services with sales as needed to referral sources, Completes documentation and submits timely, Performs routine clerical and manual tasks in the IV center and on the computer. 3. General:  Maintains all required CEU's, Maintains valid and current license in the state working in. Follows all HIPAA and JCAHO requirements, can articulate all relevant JCAHO questions, Participates in 24 hr/day 7 days per week on call rotation, as needed. 4. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  A technical diploma or higher from an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy is required. A valid license to practice Respiratory Therapy is required in the state the incumbent will be working.  1 year clinical or respiratory experience preferred. Homecare experience preferred. Working knowledge of home medical equipment preferred. Computer experience is preferred.
