A community health center in Stafford is looking for a Registered Dental Assistant. Dental Assistant must have at least 1 year of experience and be Registered (not Certified). The clinic maintains four service sites and provides services such as WIC, pharmacy, laboratory, integrated eligibility, nutritional counseling, social services, family planning, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, health education, and mental health counseling. Highly prefer someone with 2 years of experience. Patients will be adults and pediatrics. The Dental Assistant will be assisting 2 dentists that see about 15 patients per day. The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8am-5pm; Wednesday: 9am-6pm; Friday: 7am-4pm.The DA is responsible for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients of the center. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.Serves as dentist's, dental hygienist's, or student's chair-side assistant.2.Prepares operatory for patient treatment.3.Exposes and develops dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law.4.Follows guidelines for patient preparation and dismissal.5.Maintains Dental Department equipment.6.Maintains all Dental Department areas, relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues.7.Maintains adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes.8.Maintains a list of all Dental Department patients, monitors patient flow, and assists the Dental Director, dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in assuring that all patient records and documents, including encounter forms and routing slips, are properly and accurately completed and filed.9.Pulls and reviews patient charts as required.10.Assists patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions and giving directions to patients as authorized by the dentist or dental hygienist.11.Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters, clinic business and patient care of the Dental Department.12.Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the center.13.Insures the sterility of all reusable dental instruments and equipment.14.Insures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials.15.Participates in appropriate health promotion / disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required.Dental Assistant must have at least 1 year of experience and be Registered (not Certified). Highly prefer someone with 2 years of experience. Must have experience exposing and developing dental radiographs. Bilingual preferred, but not required.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION1.High school diploma or GED certificate2.Registered Dental Assistant Required3.Completion of accredited course in dental assisting preferred4.Certified Dental Assistant preferred5.Minimum one-year dental assisting experience required6.Well-organized and self-directed.7.Team player.8.Consumer advocate for quality health and dental care and services.9.Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols.10.Ability to operate computer, copier, and fax machine.11.Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
