Lakeside Healthcare System is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for part time, night position in the Emergency Deparment. Lakeside Healthcare System is located in Brockport, New York. We are a 181-bed healthcare system, serving a three-county area. In addition to Lakeside Memorial Hospital, we have an on-site child care facility, the Beikirch Care Center (a skilled nursing facility), a Family Wellness Center, and Urgent Care Centers in Spencerport and LeRoy. The Health Unit Coordinator is performs clerical, communication and receptionist activity within a patient care unitunder the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager, designee or Registered Nurse in charge. The duties of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Protects confidentiality of all records and conversations. * Performs receptionist activities – Answers inquiries, gives direction, supplies information to and assists physicians, visitors and personnel of nursing and other departments. * Performs communication duties: A. Acts as focus of communication in the patient care unit by placing and answering telephone calls and by receiving and delivering messages. B. Coordinates patient appointment schedules with other departments, hospitals and ambulances. C. Requests delayed meal trays and other dietary items. D. Reports equipment needing repair. E. Responds to patient call system and gives messages to care giver, as appropriate to area. Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration: *Must have a Highschool diploma or GED. * Must be 18 years of age or older. * Must be willing and able to work every other weekend and every other holiday. * Must have some background knowledge of medical terminology. Previous work experience in a medical field is preferred, as well as previous customer service experience.
