Job Title: Physician Assistant (Vascular)Location: Washington, DC (V.A Hospital)Reports to: Chief of StaffFLSA Status: Exempt Summary: Responsible for serving as the first assistant for vascular surgical procedures to include traditional open arterial and venous surgery, as well as endovascular cases by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities:1. Conduct hospital rounds on a daily basis of all patients including intensive care units, write orders, progress notes,performs admission history and physicals, order and interpret appropriate laboratory and radiologic tests such as CT scans, MR angiography, angiography.2. Coordinates, posts and manages, scheduling all surgical cases of the Vascular Surgery Service, including ordering vascular implants with both contracted and non-contracted vendors and insuring timely delivery of surgical implants.3. Handle urgent and emergent changes of the surgical schedule on a day-to-day basis. 4. Coordinates ancillary and support services in the delivery of complex surgical care to include radiology, cardiology, surgical services, pathology, intensive care unit reservations and utilization review.5. Performs appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as application of compressive wraps such as Unna boots, debridement of wounds, straight-forward Doppler studies, and other ancillary wound management issues.6. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications:Has a complete knowledge and is fully certified on BLS & ACLS. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiopulmonary and Life Support (ACLS) certification.
