Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CAChiropractic AssistantNaval Hospital Camp Pendleton is a 72 bed facility, overlooking Lake O'Neill and is located approximately 12 miles from the main gate at Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Outpatient and inpatient care is provided for active-duty service members, their family members, retired military members, their eligible family members and eligible family members of deceased military. Services available include internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, ENT (Ears, Nose and Throat), cardiology, pulmonary, audiology, urology, optometry, ophthalmology, gynecology, gastroenterology, allergy, obstetrics, dermatology, orthopedics, sports medicine, mental health, general surgery, nuclear medicine and emergency room.Chiropractic Assistant (1 individual)Location of Services – Orthopedics DepartmentHCWs providing services under this task order will be assigned to the Orthopedics Department, NHCP. The HCWs may also be required to temporarily provide services at a Naval Hospital Branch/Area Health Clinic to meet patient needs. Operating Hours and HCW Duty HoursThe Orthopedics Department operating hours are 0700 to 1700, Monday through Friday. The HCWs will be on duty for 8.5, 9, or 10.5 hours on each of the five work days; the duty hours are inclusive of an uncompensated ½ or 1 hour meal break. The Head of the Orthopedic Department will schedule all health care workers to ensure adequate coverage of the clinics during all operating hours. The specific duty hours for each health care worker will be scheduled 45 days in advance by the Government.OrientationEach health care worker shall comply with the requirements for orientation as described in Section C.7.11 of the basic contract and may be required to complete additional Navy Medicine, DoD or Command identified training throughout the task order period of performance.Leave and HolidaysThe HCWs will each accrue eight (8) hours of personal leave (annual plus sick) per two week period (See Section C.3.1 of the basic contract). Full-time and part-time HCWs who accrue leave will receive a paid holiday benefit per Section C.3.13.1.; compensation for holidays will be managed per Section C.3.1.13 of the basic contract.Credential and Qualification PackagesThe chiropractic assistant shall comply with the requirements for qualification packages as described in Section C.7.10.5 of the basic contract. MINIMUM PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONSThe HCWs shall comply with Section C.5 (General Provisions for HCWs) of the basic contract and shall meet the general qualifications that apply to all HCWs in Section C.7 (General Qualifications) of the basic contract. The Chiropractic Assistant shall meet the minimum qualifications stated in Section C.8.8 of the basic contract and the additional qualifications listed below. In accordance with Navy credentialing instructions any HCW staffing a position that requires credentials review must have pertinent clinical experience within the past 2 years sufficient to demonstrate current clinical competency for the setting and procedures required by this contract.Chiropractic AssistantHave experience as a chiropractic assistant, nursing assistant, physical/occupational therapy assistant, LPN, certified massage therapist or other similar medically-related support occupation of least 1 year full-time within the preceding 2 years.CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANTPossess a high school diploma or GED certificate.Possess a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience within the last three years as a chiropractic assistant, nursing assistant, physical therapy assistant, pharmacy technician, operating room technician or other similar medically related support type occupation. Clinical Duties. The health care workers shall perform the general duties listed in the basic contract in Section C.9 (General Duties) and the specific duties in Section C.10.8 (Chiropractic Assistant) of the basic contract. In addition, the health care workers shall perform the following duties. The HCWs shall perform their clinical duties under the supervision of the Head, Mental Health Department or other designated Government representative.9.2. Chiropractic AssistantThere are no additional duties to those in Section C.10.8 of the basic contract. 10.8. CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANT10.8.1. Maintain productivity comparable to that of other chiropractic assistants assigned to the same facility. Perform all duties in accordance with the chiropractic guidelines identified as Guidelines for Chiropractic Quality Assurance and Practice Parameters: Proceedings of the Mercy Center Consensus Conference.10.8.2. Prepare treatment areas for incoming patients. Transport patients to chiropractic department, and prepare patients and equipment for treatment.10.8.3. Administer complex, specialized supportive physio-therapy treatment in areas such as ultrasound, electrotherapy, therapeutic hot/cold and therapeutic exercise in support of chiropractic treatments in the clinic in a safe and medically accepted manner as directed by the supervisor.10.8.4. Instruct and supervise patient exercise programs. 10.8.5. Report unusual patient treatment response or hazardous or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor immediately. 10.8.6. Make recommendations and suggestions about treatment progression, duty limitations and the need for additional assessment and/or treatment.10.8.7. Provide patient and family education.10.8.8. Document assessments, tests, treatments and progress in the medical record at each visit. Record alterations of treatment plans and patient's reactions as needed. Document actions taken such as patient history, patient evaluation, treatments/adjustments, unusual occurrences, and morbidity in accordance with the MTF operating procedures. Comply with data collection requirements of the Chiropractic Health Care Demonstration Program (CHCDP) evaluation for each patient. 10.8.9. Assure cleanliness and orderliness in the work area. Assure adequate supply of ice and proper levels of water in hydrocollator. Exchange linen daily, and store clean, folded linen under plinths. Inventory, maintain, and clean equipment. Maintain established levels of supplies including linens, braces, bandages, tape and office supplies. Perform clerical duties such as maintaining statistics, writing patient charges, answering telephone, and other related duties.
